Rollercoaster ride for Yarmouth parish charity
A volunteer from the Pathway Café in Great Yarmouth spent the day riding on a rollercoaster to raise money for the charity
Paul Hubbard is a familiar face as a volunteer at the Pathway Café and Support Centre which is held in the Minster Mission building in Great Yarmouth. But on July 2 he spent all day on the famous wooden roller coaster at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach in order to raise money for the charity he volunteers for
Paul took his first ride on the rollercoaster at 12 noon when the Pleasure Beach opened, and kept going until 5pm when it closed, completing a total of 54 rides, which adds up to around 37 miles worth of track! The rollercoaster is one of only two wooden rollercoasters still standing in the UK, and was built in France in 1928
Paul has so far raised over £400 for his escapade, and money can still be donated via the website: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/paulhubbard. All money will go towards the Pathway Café which provides hot meals, support and a warm welcome three times a week for local people, and also provides crisis food parcels via the Yarmouth & Magdalen Foodbank
As well as donations of money, the Pathway Café also appreciates offers to volunteer and gifts of food and essential items and are actively seeking trustees, to support their existing team. The Pathway Café and Support Centre was set up in 2014 by the Parish of Great Yarmouth, and recently celebrated its 10th birthday.
