St Mary Magdalene Church Gorleston is looking for a Community Support Coordinator to be involved in seeking out and supporting the most vulnerable accessing our community hub

Job Title: Community Support Coordinator
Reports to: Community Lead/Deputy Community Lead
Type of Contact: Permanent. [subject to completion of a three month probationary period]
Place of Work: St Mary Magdalene Church (StMM), Magdalen Square, Gorleston NR31 7BZ
Hours: Full Time (37.5hrs per week) (with possibility of part time - min. 22hrs per week - or job share)
Pay: £24,834-£27,000 per annum, depending on experience, pro rata (based upon 37.5hrs full time)
Holiday: 25 days (pro rata) plus bank holidays

Our Community Hub:
Our model is built around an intentional journey that may see a local resident grow from a place of distress and distrust to a life of participation and progression. People we support might join us at any point on this journey, and our activities are chosen to allow them a place to join in, and move forwards in a way that works for them

We deliver these four stages through our emergency foodbank, fuel bank and household provision, through more than ten volunteer-led community groups and projects, through our five annual community events, through our onsite signposting and advice services, and through our structured volunteering programme.  ‘Soul Food’ (our Christian discipleship services and courses) is available to all on the journey.   We see people move from fear and isolation to confidence and hope

Job responsibilities:

Qualities required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills in person and on the telephone
  • Commitment to the church, upholding its values and pursuing its mission
  • Ability to work with vulnerable adults and children
  • Character that exemplifies Christian values
  • Able to combine compassion and challenge, grace and truth
  • Commitment to the protection and safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children


There is a genuine occupation requirement that the post-holder is a committed Christian in accordance with Employment Equality (Religion & Belief) Regulations 2003
