Pakefield nativity walk tells Christmas story
Pakefield nativity walk tells Christmas story
The true meaning of Christmas was showcased as the coastal community was provided with a seasonal treat
Shepherds, Innkeepers, star-gazing wise men, King Herod and donkeys all took centre stage as a festive tradition made a welcome return in Pakefield, near Lowestoft
And with organisers hailing it a success once more, the popular Pakefield Church walking nativity attracted a fine turnout on Christmas Eve. Hundreds of people united as members of the Pakefield Church congregation joined friends, locals, and families on a walk around the streets of Pakefield, where they encountered different parts of the nativity story along the way
Organiser Katey Mills, children and youth worker at Pakefield Church, was originally inspired to create the event in 2021, when the inaugural Nativity Walk took place and was more successful than expected as more than 150 people took part
With the walk held for the fourth year, it saw those taking part visiting 12 points along the way - with the Christmas message evolving at each. Each of the stations featured members of Pakefield church, locals, friends of Pakefield church and businesses
Assembling at Cliftonville Road in Pakefield, where the route began, people were able sign in at the Emperor census station. The route ended at the church for carols around the tree. The end of the walk also featured a stable - where a very heavily pregnant ‘Mary’ and ‘Joseph’ could be seen - as families joined others at Pakefield Church for the annual Christmas Eve carol service. Donkeys Amos and Bubbles also followed the last group to the church with Mrs Mills and organisers as they greeted other members of the congregation at the service
Afterwards, organisers said: "Thank you to everyone who took part or came along to our Nativity Walk on Christmas Eve"
