Thoughts of a Team Vicar

ASHLEY HINES 2022Happy Anniversary from myself and Roger to all of you. We were all joined together in Ministry one year ago on the 6th September 2022. An exciting day when family and friends descended on the vicarage in preparation for the evening service when I would be installed as one of your Team Vicars. I can remember Father Simon being filled with joy at having a new colleague; you may want to ask him if he still feels the same. I am sure there are many occasions when I open my mouth and he holds his breath in anticipation at what will come out

I am a plain speaking Midlander and we say it how it is, this is not so that we cause offence, but so that people know where they stand with us. If you don’t hear it from me then I haven’t said it. If I disagree with something I will have my say and then it’s over with. I don’t hold grudges, life is too short but I will let my feelings be known, a little like Jesus getting angry and over turning the tables in the temple. Job done, sorted, let’s move on

HERE I AM LORDI have enjoyed meeting people and getting lost on my travels, I have no sense of direction and that hasn’t improved in the time I have been here. When God called me to come here I didn’t know what to expect and there have been times when I have wanted to return to the Midlands to friends who know me and understand me. God’s love and the support of all of you keep me here and I know that as we continue to minister together we can do many great things here in Great Yarmouth

My favourite hymn is I the Lord of Sea and Sky and it was one of the hymns at my licensing. The words I will go Lord if you lead me, I will hold your people in my heart, still ring true and I will continue to hold you all in prayer and in my heart for as long as God and you need and want me here
