Living Water

One day Jesus asked a Samaritan woman for a drink of water (ref John 4:4-14); this was quite unusual as Jewish people refused to talk to the Samaritans, but Jesus was different

He loved and still loves everyone. After a short conversation with the woman, ironically, Jesus now offers water to her. However, Jesus refers to the water that He offers as ‘Living Water’

My family and I have recently had the privilege of going on a little holiday to Poland to see our family. While we were there, we took a trip to an amazing little village close to the boarder of Slovakia where there are natural hot springs. I’ve heard a lot about the power of natural hot spring waters and how good it is for the skin, but up until then, I’d never experienced it. To cut a long story short, we entered the various pools as some pools had different minerals and properties. Never have I felt anything so amazing on my skin. My entire body was tingling all over. That evening my skin felt so soft and smooth – I can truly say that there is healing in that water!

dove leftAs I did my devotional that evening, my mind was drawn to ‘water’. Jesus offers us ‘Living Water’! If earthly water can be so amazing as this mountain water that I experienced, how much more can the waters be that Jesus offers

There are many places in The Bible that ‘water’ is referred to. To refer to one; When the Israelites were in the wilderness, The Lord provided water to them from a rock (ref Gen 17) this water was a life line for all and every person and including the animals. The significance of that is that Jesus is referred to The Rock of ages, and He is the source of the Living Water. Jesus was their life line

Jesus said in John 7:37-38 “…Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the scripture declares, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart’”, Obviously, this water that Jesus is referring to is not physical water but rather The Holy Spirit. However, the point is there, if you want to experience this amazing healing water, you need to come to Jesus

The Bible concludes in the book of Revelation with an amazing glimpse of what heaven will be like in chapter 21 and 22
Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the centre of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations” Rev 22:1-2

After experiencing the mountain hot springs and the amazing healing power that it offers, I can’t wait to meet our Saviour and experience the ‘Living Water’ that He has to offer. My prayer is that we all will be ready for His soon return
