Fact or Faith

I believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin called Mary, in Bethlehem just over 2,000 years ago. The fact that I believe it does not make it true! What makes it true is whether it actually happened or not.  I could stop believing it, but that would not stop it being true. What stops it being true is if it never actually happened

I believe Jesus lived for about 30 years before his ministry began, but I know very little about that except he went to Jerusalem when he was 12 and his parents lost him on the way home. The fact that I believe this does not make it true; what makes it true is if it actually happened or not

dove leftI believe that for 3 years Jesus lived an incredible, miraculous life, healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons and bringing forgiveness to many. The fact that I believe this does not make it true; what makes it true is if it actually happened or not. I can stop believing but that will not alter the truth

I believe Jesus was falsely accused, falsely condemned and crucified on a cross just outside Jerusalem when he was 33 years old. The fact I believe this does not make it true; what makes it true is if it actually happened or not

I believe Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, resurrected, on the third day after he was crucified. The fact I believe this does not make it true! What makes it true is whether it actually happened or not

Dove rightStrangely enough, the Bible says that if Jesus was not raised from the dead then people who believe such twaddle are to be pitied above all men. However it also goes on to say that it is true; Jesus was not only raised from the dead but is alive today and that all who believe and trust in him will not die but will inherit eternal life

The fact of the matter is, that it is not a matter of faith but a matter of fact, it is either all true or none of it is. Whether I believe it, or not, is irrelevant, what makes it true is whether it actually happened. If it is true, and I believe it is, then it is life changing, eternity changing. Jesus said he was going on ahead to prepare a place for me. He either has or he hasn't; I believe he has

Oh, I almost forgot, the reason why:
PS  I love you.
Post script.
Script on a post.
Hung on a tree.
The Word on a cross.
God so loved me that He gave His only Son so that I would not die forever, only for a little while, and then receive Eternal Life.
That is: born again!
