CAP needs your prayers
30th September 2019
Dear CAP supporters
Hello from Great Yarmouth Borough CAP! We want to update you with a few important developments that you may have missed. CAP has become victims of its own success, following a sharp increase in referrals from 11,000 in 2017 to over 20,000 last year. The debt counsellors’ team became unable to cope with this volume and waiting lists have increased significantly
Therefore CAP has decided to suspend any new client referrals from September until February 2020 in order to clear the backlog and make several structural and technological changes to ensure this doesn’t happen again. This will ensure that clients continue to receive the quality service for which CAP has become renowned
Obviously this affects how things are operating in our area. CAP is making a huge difference to people’s lives - we have already seen 10 unchurched families make contact with churches in our area, eight individuals have committed their lives to Jesus, and a further eight families have returned to church. We do not want to see the temporary suspension of services to halt this momentum, so we would ask that you hold us in your prayers
We will be using this time to focus on fundraising, as current income levels are critically low. However this is not our area of expertise, so if you would like to help with writing grant applications please get in touch
We would also like churches to organize a social event for CAP families in 2020 so that we might continue to develop those relationships and empower those in our community to move forward, freed from the chains of debt. Please contact us if you are able to do this
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. We will host a meeting in the new year with further updates
Pat and the CAP GY team
