How deep are your roots?

I think many would agree that this summer has been a good one, regarding the weather; the warm sunshine seems to bring us a bit of joy, happiness and energy, so we feel like going out and about and doing those mundane jobs around the house
I think about the trees and plants as we journey through the countryside, the beautiful shades of green leaves on the trees, the beautiful various colours that display on the plants, it’s wonderful to see part of God’s creation
The long warm spell brought very little rain then you start to see life change in those living trees and plants, colours will fade, we notice how the grass turns to yellow, straw like, and no doubt some will wither and die because they lack constant watering
We know the roots of the trees and plants will vary in length and will try to seek moisture in the soil to see where they can survive
Then what about my brother and sister in Christ, are there times in their journey with Christ that start to run dry? Like those trees and plants, we need constant watering, the Bible tells us (John 7:37-38) “I
f anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him
”
The only way we can survive spiritually is to make sure our roots are deep in God’s word. How? By constantly reading his word, getting to know Jesus, having a relationship with Him, worshipping and praising His wonderful name
