This nation needs God
Colin King
Elder, Green Pastures Christian fellowship
We live in an age in which the basic moral codes, which have served this country well over many centuries, are being eroded and changed, mainly by vicious minority elements in our society
These people will challenge us to make decisions on our feelings or our thinking which are often based on emotion. This is very dangerous. The Bible points out in Jeremiah 17:9 “T
he heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it
?”
The Bible has been a guide to the leaders of this nation over thousands of years, and has done this nation proud. It says, in 1Samuel 3:1, “
The word of the Lord was rare and precious in those days; visions [that is, revelations of divine truth] were not widespread
”. There was no God given leadership and the word from God was not evident. That nation had ignored God and God’s word, in Judges 17:6 it says “I
n those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes
” It seems to me that is the state we are at in this nation: totally disregarding God’s word, his guidance, even our so called Christian leaders are not leading on matters that need Christian moral guidance
Laws and conventions are being radically changed, which is often against the accepted moral attitude and practice that we have enjoyed, because the majority do not challenge what is happening. Edmund Burke said “
The only thing necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing
”. History shows us how dangerous human thoughts and ideas can be, and shouts out examples; Germany in the 1930’s is a prime illustration
We Christians are to be the light and salt in our nation. So let us stand up and be counted!!
