Great Yarmouth NSP (formerly Street Pastors) is now ready for the service to which God has called them and will very soon be returning to the streets of Great Yarmouth as ambassadors for Christ and representatives of the church in this area 

The well-received work of NSP on the night-time streets of Norwich and Great Yarmouth has been absent since the beginning of January 2014 due to an internal legal situation, when the Trustees had to withdraw their street teams from working   

During the time NSP were off the streets, there has been a positive period of restructuring and reorganising.    Inhouse training and preparation sessions have been organised to support the large team of NSP volunteers from both Norwich and Great Yarmouth 

During their absence from the streets,  he NSP Prayer team have been covering Friday and Saturday nights with prayer on a weekly basis, with a pair of intercessors praying usually together over the telephone for a period of time on both nights 

The Norwich Street and Prayer teams returned to the streets on Saturday 20 December.  The NSP's primary focus  is the clubbers, but also support the rough sleepers, who will be preparing for the most challenging winter weather conditions on the streets.  There has also been a linking up with other organisations supporting the night-time economy taking place 

Great Yarmouth NSP will be preparing to go out in April following training of new pastors.  In Great Yarmouth, as in Norwich, the main problems are too much alcohol, but also drug use and speaking to those who have mental health problems, feel suicidal, and depressed 

As Great Yarmouth NSP haven't been out since 2014,  we haven't seen the problems of those who are suffering from food poverty, but we have access to Referral Vouchers from the town's independent Foodbank, which is supported by Great Yarmouth Borough Council.  NSP has been eager to get back into their night time ministry, and there is a great sense of urgency and wanting to be back out there from the volunteers 

NSP teams are experiencing a mixture of trepidation and excitement at this time and we very much want this service to be an event that both encourages them and makes them aware of the support and care of all the local churches.  So, please put this date in your diary and support them on this occasion
