Who Cares? launch for Norfolk church leaders
A county-wide mission planned for 2014 is gathering church leaders from across Norfolk for their ‘One Big Launch for Churches’ event on August 2
Leaders are invited to the Norfolk Showground on the August 2, from 5.30pm til 7pm to catch a vision for this unique mission. Roy Crowne from Hope, Joel Virgo from newday and Nick Blanch from Youth For Christ are among those sharing about this opportunity to take the gospel to Norfolk. The Rt Rev Graham James, Bishop of Norwich will also be leading thousands of young people in prayer for the mission following the launch event
A unique part of the mission is the opportunity to work with thousands of young people from newday who are going to help local churches connect with thousands of people in their local communities. The mission is based around asking one big question – ‘what hurts the most?’ and then offering opportunities for people to find hope
Rob Tervet, from Who Cares? explains; “2014 is a historic opportunity for the gospel in Norfolk – Hope are having a year of mission and newday is on our doorstep for potentially the last year. This launch event is a vital opportunity for churches to catch a vision for what we are doing and find out how they can get involved. We’re thrilled to have the support of leaders from across the denominations and look forward to welcoming churches from across the county to be there”
Roy Crowne, Executive Director of Hope, said: “Hope is thrilled the Who Cares? resource will provide churches with a tool to enable them to impact their community, coming out of caring and loving relationships, this provides a great opportunity to communicate the Gospel. It is one of many that HOPE would recommend and we’re thrilled to be partnering with this in the summer of 2014”
Backing the initiative, the Rt Rev Graham James, Bishop of Norwich, said: “‘Who Cares?’ is often said by those who have grown cynical about our society. This mission initiative is a very simple means of enabling churches to make fresh contact with the communities of which they’re part and to show that they care for everyone because God cares for them. It’s a practical initiative, achievable and worthwhile, and which I hope will bring people who’ve never known of Jesus Christ’s care for them to hear his name and discover his love”
Ian Savory, Senior Pastor of Oak Grove Chapel in Norwich, said: “Who Cares? gives the Church together in Norfolk a real opportunity to engage with the issues people are facing. Mission always involves a risk and the risk here is: will we listen to the answers?”
