Renewing St Andrew’s for the 21st Century
Rev Tony Ward, St Andrew's Church, Gorleston
News update:
Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice……………on August 28th we finally received the news that a Faculty has been granted to renew St Andrew’s for the 21st Century. We thank God for all the way he has led us over the past 3 ½ years since we first proposed making such major alterations to the Church building
The purpose of it all is to help us fulfil our Mission Statement “to know Jesus better and to make him better known”. A more flexible space will enable us worship in a greater variety of ways, and increase the number of people who come into our lovely building and begin to get a sense of the presence of God in this much prayed-in place. We pray that will be the beginning of a journey that leads to life-transforming faith in Jesus for many people
We held a Gift Day on September 5th, and thus far around £31,000 has been given or promised, which with Gift Aid will mean that we are nudging our way towards £40,000. Thank you to everyone who has given so far
And a massive thank you, to Julia Knights and her friends Anne, Alison and David, who put on the most marvellous evening of flower arranging for us on September 16th. Thank you too to Lauren, Ruth, Gail, Dale, Lisa and Alison and the St Andrew’s Flower Guild for setting up a Flower Festival as the backdrop for the evening, and to Rosemary and Sarah who worked so hard in the background. It was our first fundraiser for the project and the total raised so far stands at £936
The evening was entitled “The story so far”, and it provided an opportunity to look back at the past, reflect on the present, and anticipate the exciting future that God has planned for us in our renewed building
