Letter from Nancy November 2020

Time is going so quickly, it’s getting difficult to keep up and remember what Saint’s Day it is

ST FRANCIS ASSISSI pixsbsyOn Sunday 4 October it was the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Animals and Environment.  He was born in Italy c1181 and was renowned for drinking and partying in his youth.  After fighting a battle between Assisi and Perugia he was captured and imprisoned for treason.  He spent nearly a year in prison awaiting his father’s payment and according to legend began receiving visions from God.  After his release from prison, Francis heard the voice of Christ, who told him to repair the Christian Church and live in poverty.  Consequently he abandoned his life of luxury and became a devotee of the faith, his reputation spreading all over the Christian World.  He is known as the Patron Saint of Animals who may be blessed on his feast day

Take Time to Pray

praying hands-pixabayI got up early in one morning
and rushed head long into the day
I had so much to accomplish,
I didn’t have time to pray

Problems over whelmed me,
Impossible seemed the task,
“Why doesn’t God help me?” I wondered,
He replied, “You didn’t ask”

I wanted to see joy and beauty
but the day continued depressing and bleak
I wondered why God didn’t show me,
He said “But you didn’t ask”

I woke up early one morning
and paused before entering the day
I had so much to accomplish
I had to take time to pray

And yes, dear readers, that was one of the blessings of Covid-19, we had more time to pray.  While we felt isolated we grew closer to God, as we turned more often.  He was always there, waiting to help us delighting to help us, nothing was too great, even when we prayed for forgiveness for something that happened years ago.  He was waiting for our confession and ready to atone us for past offences

Coronavirus wasn’t all bad, it gave us opportunity to draw closer to our Lord and Maker and put our trust in Him.  Yes as we try to adapt to a coronavirus altered world we may feel anxious and overwhelmed about what the days and months ahead may hold.  We must remember God is in control, He knows best and He loves us.  Let us continue to praise and thank Him for all his Blessings, ‘He is holding you’

We all know that the initials ASAP  Means ‘As soon as possible’.  It has been suggested ASAP means ‘”Always say a prayer”

God bless

Nancy
