Great Yarmouth Christians celebrate working together

26th October  2018

CELEBRATE tony rothe
A meeting in Great Yarmouth on November 2 will celebrate the work of churches and Christian organisations in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston to improve the lives of local people. Tony Rothe, Network East Norfolk, reports

The aim of the evening is to celebrate all that is being done together by Christians from different churches for the good of the local area.  The projects involved are: The Living Room homeless project, Great Yarmouth FoodbankEast Norfolk Youth for ChristIdentity youth project and Imagine Norfolk Together. The projects were chosen because they represent a partnership between several churches working across the borough

There will be a particular focus at the end of the evening on broadening the support across churches for the work of the Christians Against Poverty Debt Centre hosted by Park Baptist Church. The evening will also include the launch of a directory compiled by Anna Heydon at Imagine Norfolk Together which details the community activities offered by churches in the borough

“This is an exciting new collaboration between the churches of Great Yarmouth and Gorleston designed to celebrate all that God is doing through Christians working together in our area” explained Revd Matthew Price, Curate-in-Charge at St Mary Magdalene Church, Gorleston

“The event is being organised by a team of people from churches across the borough of Yarmouth and the aim of the event is to celebrate those things that we do well together as churches.  We’re also hoping that the event will be a springboard for developing the work of the CAP Debt Centre hosted by Park Baptist Church in Great Yarmouth so that more people will be able to access the churches and more churches will be involved in supporting clients”

The event will run from 7pm to 9.15pm on Friday November 2 at The Kings Centre, 30 Queen Anne’s Road, Great Yarmouth, NR31 0LE. As many people as possible are encouraged to attend to give thanks and worship God in celebration of all he is doing through churches and Christians working together. Refreshments will be available at 7pm

“We hope that the evening will inspire more people to become involved and also to broaden the areas in which we work together” said Matthew
