Have a look at the goings-on inside

INTERIOR 4 FEB2015INTERIOR 5 FEB2015Visit to Centre on 30th January by documentary photographer,
Julia Cameron

INTERIOR 6 FEB2015INTERIOR 7 FEB2015I have been photographing aspects of Great Yarmouth for around 2 years and have noted the neglected building, formerly Bay21a on the quay. It was with delight that I read in the papers that it had been found a new use and one that would be of benefit to the seafaring community

INTERIOR 3 FEB2015INTERIOR 1 FEB2015Much improvement to the building has been made, but it still needs a lot of work before the planned opening (around Easter). It is possible to see how the new layout of the premises will work and modifications are being made to provide an office for Rev Peter Paine, Port Chaplain, as well as social space for rest and relaxation for seafarers while in port

I plan to continue documenting the activities and changes as they occur and look forward to seeing the centre in use

In the photos, you can see Rev Peter and one of the volunteers for the operation of the centre after opening, the stalwart John Gunning

John is one of the volunteers who will man the centre after opening.  More volunteers are still needed and, if you would like to be involved in this valuable and rewarding project, please contact the Port Chaplain on 07788 111823 or portchaplain@kerne.co.uk

Training will be given to anyone wishing to become a ship visitor
