Viewpoint Christmas messages from the team 19/12/2014

REV PETER PAINE 001LARGERev Peter Paine

Christmas, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” as the song goes, but is it? Many people in this town have nothing to celebrate, empty cupboards, cold rooms, no money etc, etc

Christmas is a time for families, love giving and receiving gifts

We at the Viewpoint team are really pleased to receive from many people who give their Viewpoints in every week, for us to give them to the people of this town either through the paper or the website. On behalf of the team may I say a big THANK YOU to you, especially all the team at the Mercury offices who print these every week

From us to you, may you find the gift of the Baby Jesus this Christmas and receive in your hearts the love that knows no bounds

I would like to say a very special thank you to all the authors who have written for me over the last 7 years since I became a member of the Viewpoint team.  I have now moved to the West Country and I would like to wish you a very happy Christmas and a great new year.   Also I send my good wishes to the Viewpoint team and I pray that God will bless you for the work that you do

I heard a man tell his friend that Christmas had become too commercialised.  Records show the abuse our credit cards receive at Christmas and that it takes most of the following year to pay them off.  I saw one lady pushing a trolley loaded with food and pulling another loaded with alcohol.  Which spirit will fill us this Christmas?  It's good to give and receive gifts, but the greatest gift ever given to mankind was Jesus Christ and the salvation he offers.  A free gift but bought at great cost.  May God bless you and keep you.  Happy Christmas

A very Happy Christmas to all our readers and contributors!

It is our wish that you do not lose sight of the gift of Jesus among the wrappings this Christmas and that you will choose to accept it as He is God’s wonderful gift to all of us

We hope that you enjoy the Christmas break, and you can take some time to be with your friends and family, and to meditate on the wonder of the Son of God who came to Earth in a borrowed stable
